WWF offers technical assistance to support governments in advancing Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECM) efforts through webinars, trainings, national dialogues, and collaborative events.
Support includes co-designing identification methodologies, mapping priority areas such as Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) and Ecologically or Biologically Significant Marine Areas (EBSAs), developing OECM roadmaps, drafting project proposals, and designing long-term financing strategies.
WWF also assists in measuring the conservation and social impacts of OECMs and facilitates inclusive engagement processes. This support is available across key regions—including the Amazon, Congo Basin, Southern Africa, Greater Mekong, Western Himalayas, and Tropical Eastern Pacific—and is tailored to national contexts and aligned with global biodiversity targets.
