The Andes Amazon Fund (AAF) supports the creation or expansion of protected areas and the legal recognition of Indigenous lands in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Guyana, and Suriname.
Funding, channeled through civil society organizations, varies based on the project’s scope. Proposed projects must be over 1,000 hectares and have local support.
After successful declaration, AAF also supports the initial management of these areas, such as funding for park guards, monitoring, management plans, and sustainable livelihood initiatives for local communities. AAF grant funding is awarded one year at a time based on project progress.
